WOW FILCOM! 

Sergeant-At-Arms Vijji jumpstarted Filcom's 361st meeting by sharing the club mission and meeting protocol. Right after, President Joseph formally opened the meeting and welcomed our valued guests. He then gave the floor to Arjay as the Toastmaster of the Day, who introduced the theme "WOW Filcom" using his unique and creative approach - deviating from the normal format of every Toastmasters Meeting, Arjay introduced his anchor hosts who assisted him in getting real-time feedback from the audience, Sahar and Joseph. He also introduced the role players for the night: Jessie as Timer, Michelle as Ah-Counter, and Raffy as Grammarian.

SPEAKATHON 

Seven brave Filcomites took up the challenge to deliver their respective speech projects in an attempt to “WOW” the audience.

• Stella in her Ice-breaker Speech "Call Me Names", did not only introduced herself in the club but enthralled everyone with her delivery, poise, and eloquence.
• Asma, on her inspiring delivery of "The Virtue of Kindness", left the audience in awe of how a simple act of kindness can make a great impact and change in this world.
• Satish with his speech "Serendipity", painted a vivid picture of how delightful it is to fall in love and come across special and great things unexpectedly.
• Kushagra amused and entertained the audience with his piece "So, what do you want to be?" Concluding with a heart-warming message, to be whatever you want to become.
• ”Happy Disaster Day" was Aymans's entry in his High-Performance Leadership 1 Project. He spoke about the pieces of lesson he has learned in his years of experience.
• Cj’s "Where Leaders Are Made" is his entry for his High-Performance Leadership 1 Project where he shared his plan and vision as the VP for Public Relations of the club for the year 2019 - 2020.
• Lastly, Leo on his speech “We Did It!”, reenacted the accepting of an award and acknowledging the presenting organization. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported him in his term as the club president last Toastmaster Year.

EVALUATION 

Guest Toastmaster S.K. Naidu took charge in the Evaluation segment. He introduced and called the evaluators Gino, Deepti, Diana, Joseph, Nadim, Mamta, and Damitha. The evaluators delivered their respective evaluation on their assigned speeches. Thereafter, the role players delivered their reports, and Guest Toastmaster S.K. Naidu rendered his thorough General Evaluation.

“The Power of Small!”

Sergeant-At-Arms TM Fouad started Filcom's 360th meeting by sharing the club mission and meeting protocol. Right after, Filcom’s President TM Joseph and PICE's acting president TM Felipe Catinoy formally opened the meeting and warmly greeted all the guests. It was then followed by the grand entry of our vibrant, ever-smiling, enthusiastic toastmaster of the day Diana May. TM Diana turned the 360th meeting 360 degrees with her theme “The Power of Small” not keeping any stone unturned to express her vision behind the theme. She introduced the role players with their three adjectives for the evening: TM Michelle as the Timer, TM Maria Fatima as the Ah-Counter, and TM Gino as the Grammarian.

💼 PREPARED SPEECHES

Four prepared speeches, two from Filcom and two from PICE showcased a well balanced composition of this segment. TMOD with her three adjectives theory introduced each speaker. TM Gregorio broke the ice and lead everyone to the ray of ‘HOPE’. He concluded his speech with a strong message that it’s not your mistake to born poor but it will be your mistake if you die poor. TM Raffy not only broke the ice but also crushed it and smashed it in his mesmerizing style to show us what lies underneath his Fasade. TM Guillermo inspired everyone to Step Up with his unique style. He kept every one wears their thinking hats on till the end. TM Deepti’s speech #thuglife #icytospicydeliciousdwlicacies compelled everyone to look forward to the break to satiate the craving for food.

💼 TABLE TOPICS

Table Topics Master TM Alaa conducted the table topics in a very elegant way. Inspiring and thought-provoking questions were faced and rejoindered by Dr. Farooq, Sahar, CJ, Stella, Tag, and willingly.

💼 EDUCATIONAL SESSION

Our very own Area Director and past President TM Leo delivered an educational session on Meeting Roles and Responsibilities. He explained the anatomy of the club and the Organizational Structure of the Toastmasters. It was quite informative for the members to understand the demands of the roles and responsibilities that they are accountable for as well as for new members to know the face and duty of all the positions in the club.

💼 EVALUATION

A stalwart Filcomite DTM Farooq who is always ready to take any challenge head-on took charge of the Evaluation Segment. He introduced and called the evaluators, Rechell, Val, Joseph and Felipe who gave their evaluations on their assigned speeches. Ayman also evaluated the Table Topics Segment and Table Topic Speeches. Thereafter, the role players delivered their reports and DTM Farooq rendered his GE Report.

New Member Orientation 2019

"No one belongs here more than you" - Brene Brown.

Filcom's New Member Orientation for the year 2019 took place last 16th August 2019 at The French Olive in Al Sadd, 3 pm - 6 pm. The event was spearheaded by Filcom's VP for Membership Rechell Mejoc and was graced by new members and other officers.

Filcom's new members were given all the tools and information that they needed to kick-start their Toastmasters journey.

359th Meeting: Happy Holidays!

“Happy Holidays!”

Sergeant-At-Arms Afajal started Filcom's 359th meeting by sharing the club mission and meeting protocol. Right after, President Joseph formally opened the meeting for the first time and warmly greeted all the guests. He then gave the floor to Ayman as the Toastmaster of the Day, who introduced the theme "Happy Holidays!" where he shared his stories and personal take on the theme. Ayman introduced the role players for the night: Michelle as the Timer, Asmaa as the Ah-Counter, and CJ as the Grammarian.

💼 PREPARED SPEECHES

Four charismatic Filcomites took up the challenge to deliver their respective speech projects. Nadim, in his speech entitled "In the Motion", delivered a mind-stimulating speech and encouraged everyone, in conclusion, to be extraordinary. Sahar, on her Research and Presenting Speech "There are 7 Things" rendered a creative delivery that surely captured everyone’s attention. Jessie once again moved and entertained the crowd with her speech "54”, where she talked about her journey towards fitness and how she was able to attain her desired weight. Leo, on the other hand, touched everyone’s hearts as he presented a toast in recognition of the efforts and dedication of all the club members.

💼 TABLE TOPICS

Tag, the Table Topics Master gave her own twist for this segment. She asked the audience if who amongst them wants to volunteer to answer her thought-provoking-questions. Dr. Farooq, Sahar, Guest Raffy, Stella, Alaa, and Guest Amit willingly volunteered and gave their meaningful thoughts on their respective questions.

💼 EDUCATIONAL SESSION

President Joseph delivered a Moments of Truth – The Successful Club Series – 1 where he walked through all the members and guests regarding how to create a positive first impression of the club and recognize and deal with situations critical to club success. Right after, he facilitated live feedback from members and guests where an instant result via online was shown. It gave everyone in the club an idea on which aspect do they need to improve the most.

Diana took charge in the Evaluation Segment. She introduced and called the evaluators, Fouad, Vidal, Gino, and Rechell, who gave their evaluation on their assigned speeches. Shyam also evaluated the Table Topics Segment and Table Topic Speeches. Thereafter, the role players delivered their reports and Diana rendered her GE Report.

358th Meeting: Face The Heat

“Face the Heat”

Sergeant-At-Arms Rechell kickstarted Filcom's 358th meeting by sharing the club mission and meeting protocol. For the last time, President Leo formally opened the meeting with warmth and enthusiasm. He then invited Division D, District 116P Division Director-Elect TM Juttas Paul to facilitate the installation of the new Executive Committee of Filcom International Toastmasters Club for 2019 – 2020.

After the installation rights, Leo the immediate past President of the Club gave the floor to Joseph, the newly installed President. Joseph shared his experience from being the club secretary, the VP-PR, the VP-Education, and now becoming the President, and how those roles transformed him to become the leader that he is today.

Subsequently, he then gave the floor to Dennis as Toastmaster of the Day, who introduced the theme "Face the Heat", contemplating the idea that heat is indeed transformational. He also introduced the role players for the night Ganesh as the Timer, Tag as the Ah-Counter, and Joseph as the Grammarian.

💼 PREPARED SPEECHES

Five zealous Filcomites took up the challenge to deliver their respective speech projects. Asmaa, in her Ice-breaker Speech entitled "Never Settle for Less", amazed everyone with her strong vision for herself. Burhan, on his Informational Speech "Anatomy of Habits" re-asserted the idea that habits are nothing but a response to stimuli. Ayman once again enthused the group with his speech "The Godfather”, where he talked about the importance of making connections through networking. Rechell, on the other hand, entertained the crowd with her promising delivery of “Everyone Needs Donna. Lastly, Cj shared his experience and lessons learned in making a social media presence entitled “#DoComeTrue”.

💼 TABLE TOPICS

Manij, the Table Topics Master gave his personal touch to the second part of the meeting. He asked the audience if who amongst them wants to be disturbed in a good way and challenged them to answer thought-provoking-questions. Gavalier Jerome, Sahar, Tag, and Guest Raffy willingly volunteered and gave their meaningful thoughts on their respective questions.

💼 EVALUATION

Gino took charge in the Evaluation segment. He introduced and called the evaluators, Fouad, Sahar, Shyam, Joseph, and Diana, who gave their evaluation on their assigned speeches. Celebrating Excellence and Diversity

Indeed a festive night when all of Filcomites, along with guests, gathered in celebrating excellence and diversity in the club. SAA Jessie gathered everyone, followed by President Leo who formally opened the meeting. Abigail, who served as TMOD introduced the theme and led everyone throughout the meeting and awarding ceremony. She was joined by role players; Vidal as Ah-Counter, Dennis as Timer, and Manij as Grammarian.

Bilal, Sahar, and Diana delivered their unique pieces in the Prepared Speeches segment. Ayman spearheaded the second segment and welcomed DTM Dr. Farooq, Guest Stella, Guest Ado, and Khadar, onstage to answer his amusing and entertaining Table Topics. Fouad led the group of evaluators composed of Rechell, Philip, Rashed, and Shyam, and delivered his General Evaluation as well.

The Awards Ceremony followed, in appreciation of the tireless efforts, utmost dedication, and exemplary performance of the club's members. Truly it was a spectacular evening, capping off the Program Year 2018-2019.

Sergeant-At-Arms Tenny jump-started Filcom's 356th meeting by sharing the club mission and meeting protocol. President Leo followed by formally opening the meeting and welcomed guests. He then gave the floor to Vidal as Toastmaster of the Day, who introduced the theme "I Feel You", presenting different emotions that we feel. He also introduced the role players for the night: Jessie as Timer, Burhan Khaliq as Ah-Counter, and Gino as Grammarian.

SPEAKATHON

Six unique Filcomites took up the challenge to deliver their respective speech projects. Abigail in her speech "Never Too Late", persuaded everyone how energy is our most important resource and gave everyone tips on how to wisely spend and replenish our energies.

Nadim, on his inspiring delivery of "The Living Question", left the audience in awe on how this simple question could inject meaning and change the course of life.

Priya graced the club with her presence and speech entitled "Stress Busters", where she spoke about her personal research and experiences on dealing with stress.

Ayman amused and entertained the audience with his piece "My Duty Roster", sharing his experience of leading his work team towards consensus, on their duty rosters.

"Hijack The Jack" was Deepti's entry in her Persuasive Influence path. She spoke about her plan of being a DTM and then, later on, handled questions from the audience on possible disruptions to her plan.

In Diana's "Teaming Up For Kimberly" project, she shared with the group her experience and realizations in leading a team for a bridal shower she organized.

EVALUATION

Rechell took charge in the Evaluation segment. She introduced and called the evaluators Fouad, Swetha, Dennis, Afajal, Leo, and Joseph. The evaluators delivered their respective evaluation on their assigned speeches. Thereafter, the role players delivered their reports, and Rechell rendered her General Evaluation.

President Leo followed by formally opening the meeting with a plethora of recognition the club was awarded during DTAC. He then gave the floor to Afajal as Toastmaster of the Day, who introduced the theme "Mind Your Colleagues", presenting different personalities of our co-workers in the office. He also introduced the role players for the night Arjay as Timer, Rechell as Ah-Counter, and Deepti as Grammarian.

💼 PREPARED SPEECHES

Three professional Filcomites took up the challenge to deliver their respective speech projects. Hamad, in his speech "Two Lessons from Kendo", amazed everyone with his Japanese martial art moves and the pearls of wisdom he has learned through it. Bilal, on his powerful delivery of "Be Fit" inspired the audience with his personal journey of fitness and fitting in. Ayman once again entertained the group with his educative speech "Are You H.O.T.?"

Diana served as the Table Topics Master and gave her personal touch to the second part of the meeting. She asked the audience of who amongst them wants to be disturbed in a good way and challenged them to answer thought-provoking-questions. With a number of consecutive heartbreaking events in the news, it's easy for people to get discouraged. For Filcom's 353rd meeting, our optimism advocate Diana May opted for the theme HappiNews! News that's positive, motivating, and inspiring - to remind us all that a myriad of good things are also happening everywhere!

Gino served as the SAA and gathered everyone to share the club mission and the meeting protocol. He then called on President Leo, who formally opened the meeting, announced some #HappiNews, and introduced Diana as Toastmaster of the Day. The role players for the night also described their roles; Tenny as Timer, Michelle as Ah-Counter, and Leo as Grammarian.

🌞📰 UPLIFT

Public Speaking is a remarkable platform to uplift others! And our speakers did exactly that. Dale delivered his speech "A Friendly Advice", speaking of his life experiences and how he realized that comparison is a thief of joy. Manij, inspired by MLK, shared about his hopes and aspirations in his speech "I Have A Dream". Deepti gave an amusing and informative take on her speech project "Conflict Resolution Is First A Mindset Then A Skill Set". Then Cj shared his project plan in his report "Filcom TV". In a variety of ways, these promising Filcomites did more than just speaking - they delivered good, positive, and uplifting messages.

🌞📰 ENCOURAGE

Mehdi served as the Table Topics Master and brought his adorable creativity on the second leg of the meeting. He asked brave members of the audience to speak on what they would do for certain workplace scenarios. Bilal, Sahar, Ayman, DTM Dr. Farooq , and guests gave amusing answers which draw waves of laughter from the audience. This positive experience encourages members to be fearless and in turn, be surprised by what they are capable to say and do.

🌞📰 INSPIRE

The heart of the Toastmasters meeting, the Evaluation, was spearheaded by DTM Dr. Farooq. He introduced and called the evaluators, Ayman, Arjay, Rechell, and Fouad , who gave their evaluation on their assigned speeches. Dennis also evaluated the table topics segment and the table topic speeches. Thereafter, the role players delivered their reports and DTM Dr. Farooq rendered his GE Report. A good evaluation is vital to inspiring the speakers and role players to maintain their zeal on their roles. It also encourages other members to take up tasks knowing that the club is supportive of growth.

It was indeed a meeting that's merry and bright! With #HappiNews, no one ever hurt their eyes 👀 by looking at the bright side of life! 😉🌞📰
