The meeting was called to order at 7:00PM by the stand-in Sergeant-at-Arms, Hemakumar. Club President Kit then formally opened the meeting at 7:02 PM.
VP-Membership Dennis formally inducted two new members to the Filcom family namely, Anamika Soni and Kushagra Priyadarshi. Vote of acceptance was done through a thunderous round of applause from all the members present.
Treasurer Dr. Farooq presented the fiscal situation of the club which solicited an urgent need to adjust/raise the semi-annual membership fee to get through the operating expenses amid the sponsorships from Al Rayyan Water. Proposed adjustments are as follows:
By show of hands, all 13 members present voted in favor of the membership fee increase.
The issue was also raised prior to the meeting through the Whatsapp group and generated a positive response from most of the members.
The regular meeting chaired by Leo with the theme “Sparks Fly” went on with two prepared speeches delivered by Rashed and Fouad which was followed by the Table Topics moderated by Joseph. Five brave souls (Anamika, Khalid, Shyam, Jessie, Saif) delivered speeches about love in this part of the meeting. Finally, the evaluation session was moderated by Dennis with Saif and Shyam providing feedbacks/evaluation for Rashed and Fouad’s speeches. Role Players were Kushagra (Grammarian), Jan Anthony (Ah Counter) and Jessie (Timer). The following emerged as the winners at the end of the meeting: Best Speaker – Fouad Alfaris, Best Table Topics Speaker & Best Evaluator - Shyam Sundar.
The meeting was formally closed/adjourned by VP-Education, Leo at 9:00PM followed by the mandatory photo-ops.
